Orthodontics

What is Orthodontics?

Orthodontics is a branch of dentistry that significantly affects both the aesthetics and function of the oral apparatus. It is a crucial investment for individuals with bite issues or teeth that are irregularly positioned in the dental arch. Orthodontic treatments addressing skeletal problems (bite issues) can be performed at a young age, before reaching puberty. However, aligning teeth can be done at any age, even after puberty. The timing of orthodontic treatment depends on the individual’s specific issue, and the treatment plan and type of orthodontic appliance used vary accordingly.

To give a general idea of orthodontic appliances, they can be:
Removable, Fixed metal, Fixed aesthetic, Aligner~INVISALIGN, which is the latest technology in the industry.

Fixed Metal Appliances

These are the classic orthodontic devices. They consist of metal brackets placed on each tooth, with a thin horizontal wire running through the center of each bracket. A slight disadvantage of this appliance is its aesthetics, and it also requires special care to maintain oral hygiene. During the time the patient uses this fixed appliance, the doctor recommends using special toothbrushes that can reach areas near the brackets for a thorough cleaning. This helps prevent the onset of caries on otherwise healthy teeth. The teeth should be brushed three times a day after meals, and the mouth should be periodically rinsed with a special mouthwash that is also used for regular oral hygiene. Patients may experience some discomfort during the initial adjustment period to the appliance, but this is not something to worry about.

Aesthetic Fixed Appliances

These consist of ceramic brackets, which are almost transparent (white in color) and are placed on each tooth. They are highly aesthetically pleasing. A thin wire runs horizontally through each bracket. Oral hygiene care must be very rigorous with this appliance. The advantage of this system is improved aesthetics compared to the traditional metal fixed appliance, while still achieving equally successful results in orthodontic treatment.

Aligner ~ INVISALIGN

Invisalign is a cutting-edge orthodontic appliance. It consists of a highly aesthetic transparent aligner that is worn on the dental arch for at least 22 hours per day. With Invisalign, the treatment plan is programmed through 3D computer technology, offering maximum precision. To reposition the teeth, several aligners are needed, and they are changed every 2-3 weeks. At the start of the process, the doctor will scan your teeth using a special 3D scanner (3SHAPE). Then, they will create a digital treatment plan from start to finish.
Before starting orthodontic treatment with Aligner~INVISALIGN, you have the opportunity to see your final smile printed.
Advantages of Aligner ~Invisalign: It is aesthetic, comfortable, and dental hygiene is very easy to maintain since the aligner can be removed for cleaning and then reinserted. This technique is used to treat a variety of orthodontic issues in both primary and permanent dentition, including: crowded teeth, closing the pronounced gap between two front teeth, correction of open bite, crossbite, deep bite, tooth alignment, and more. An orthodontic treatment lasts from 6 months to 2 years, depending on the type of issue being treated, progress, and other individual factors of the patient.
Our mission as a dental team is to work together as a unit to provide the best care available to all ages. We treat our patients with patience and kindness
